Saab Club of Canada Board of Directors for 2018 (updated)

Update, May 23: at the recent Board of Directors meeting, Ed Treijs was selected President. You can contact him at president@saabclub.ca

One of the important items of business for the AGM on April 18 was to determine the Club’s Board of Directors and other officers for the coming year.

First of all, Club President Chris Despond indicated ahead of time that personal commitments prevented him from carrying on as President or as a member of the Board. The Club, on behalf of all its members, thanks Chris for his efforts and his enthusiasm for the Club, and Saabs, for the past two years.

After an election that included submitted proxy votes, the five Directors making up the Board for 2018 are:

  • Stan East
  • Fred Hopper
  • Scott Huchings
  •  Ed Treijs (President)
  •  Martin Wojtowicz (Vice President)

The Club also thanks Rick Clayton and Nestor Petruniak for their past service as DIrectors.

  • Martin W. was acclaimed as Vice President of the Club, a post which he has held for the past two years
  • Rick C. was acclaimed as Secretary

Unlike the positions listed above, the President is selected by the Board of Directors at their next meeting. This will happen on Wednesday, May 16, 7:00 PM at eZone. Meetings are always open to Members, so please feel free to join us.

SOC13 Canadian Convoy – details

The Saab Club of Canada in conjunction with Stage 9 Automotive is putting together a convoy to SOC13.

Departure time from Stage 9 is 10:00am sharp!

Please contact either Scott (Saab Club) or Nick (Stage 9) if you have any questions.

Don’t forget:
Registration for the event is required unless you are planning on purchasing a day pass (and registration other than day passes is closed)
Passports are required to cross the US / Canada border.

We’re looking forward to the largest convoy to an SOC yet … there are already 10 cars expected!!! Let’s make it even bigger!

==================================================

We will be doing the Thousand Islands route for SOC 13 in Albany, New York on Thursday August 15th.

Meet at shop at 9:30am and leave by 10am which should give us plenty of time to get to our destination. All convoy participants will receive a free STAGE 9 shirt for the event.

Due to the traffic we will encounter along the 401 across the top of Toronto, we do not expect the group to be able to stay together. Do not worry about even TRYING to stay as a group. We have planned for this and will be stopping along the way.

We will gather up at the Newcastle OnRoute stop to grab a snack and a wash room break.. It is located after exit 448 and before 459.

We will be crossing the bridge in Landsdowne, ON (The Thousand Islands International Bridge) and following the 137 which then turns to i81. We will continue with the i81 until we merge with the i90. The i90 will take us Eastbound to Albany.

There will be pit stops along the way which we will communicate via Nick’s and Scott’s cell phone.

Nick has arranged registration/passes pickup upon our arrivial with Daryl Powers so we are go to go.
