Notice of Annual General Meeting, Saturday September 28
The Saab Club of Canada is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 1 pm EDT on Saturday September 28 at the West Rouge Community Centre in east-end Toronto.
Please see the attached formal Notice for details. We are also hosting pre-AGM tech workshops and a post-AGM social at a local pub.
The Annual General Meeting is an important part of the Club’s governance. The Club’s current, active (paid) members are responsible, at the AGM, for electing five (5) Directors and also the Vice President. At the same time, the Directors on the Board (one of whom is elected as President by the other Board members) and the Vice President and all other Officers of the Club are in turn responsible to the membership and provide reports to the membership at the AGM.
While all are welcome to come to the AGM, only current active paid members are:
• Counted for quorum
• Eligible to be nominated for office
• Able to vote in the Board and VP elections
For those current members who are unable to attend the AGM, there is a proxy form attached to the Notice. Unfortunately neither the Club’s current By-Laws nor the available broadcast tools allow us to include on-line members in the AGM at this time,.
The Club is definitely seeking nominations for Vice President, as Kaye Rickatson is retiring from the post. We are also looking to fill the vacant Treasurer and Webmaster positions held by the retiring Fred Hopper–more than one person in each role, to back each other up, would be ideal. We are also open for more nominations to join the Board and become a Director.
If you have any questions about the AGM, or about any of the positions the Club needs to fill, you can contact the President or Vice President (contact info in About Us section on the website) or our long-time Nomination Chair Trevor (contact info in the AGM notice).
Hope to see you there!
