Our first official Saab Club of Canada event of 2026 is our Winter Drive to the Minden Ice Races.
On Sunday February 1, 2026 Club members will meet at 9:30am at the McDonalds (B4 Beaver Avenue, Beaverton, ON, L0K 1A0) and at 10am convoy together to the Ice Racing at the Minden Fairgrounds (2048 Fleming Rd. Minden, ON, K0M 2K0).
Sunday races start at 11am and run till about 4pm.
Be sure to bring warm clothes because spectators watch the fun from the top of the snowbanks.
If you want to ride along, you need a either a Snell 2010M or SA or newer helmet, or an ECE 22.5 valid with a date of manufacture of 2015 or newer as noted on helmet label is also acceptable. We are in the process of trying to secure loaner helmets but can’t guarantee there will be enough to go around.
Our VP Christopher Jones will be racing in the “Street Cup” class, and if you register in advance you can too. In addition to the helmet described above, the only modifications required to a street legal car is taping the headlights and tail lights (Street Cup is non-contact but just in case) and a set of street legal studded tires.
Christopher Jones has one extra set of studded tires from last year’s Street Cup Champion car #93 – A 2009 Saab NG93 2.8T Aero XWD SportCombi. These tires are available on a first come first serve basis for Saab Club of Canada paid members to install to use on Saturday January 31 and/or February 1 on their car.
This event is open to everyone, though to compete in these races, drivers must be a member of a CASC affiliated Club. If you’re a Saab Club of Canada member you’re already good to go.
See You Sunday!
