The Saab Club of Canada web site comes to life!

I’d like to welcome everyone to the brand new Saab Club of Canada.

I encourage everyone to have a look around.  If you see something missing or don’t see something you would like, please LET US KNOW!  One of the areas we will be strengthening is the “Member’s Only” section.  I have just uploaded a few Saab Canada brochures from 2006 and will continue adding more and more material as time progresses (it is a very slow process as you can imagine …).  I will also be putting pdf versions of  past editions of the Gryphon up there, also for members only.

If you are a current club member, please sign up for access to the site and be sure to use the same e-mail address as we have on file … the one we send e-mails to.  This will make it MUCH easier to be able to grant you the access you deserve.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone here … and remember, the more we all contribute, the better the site (and this club) will be!

Scott

  1. At the last fall color event, the group met at a Tim Horton first before it started the drive. When I got there, some participants already parked and inside drinking coffee. I went inside and joined them until I saw a 9-7 pulled up. The driver was not a familiar face so I thought I should go out and greet him. I went back out to the parking lot and asked him whether he was coming to the Saab club fall color event. The driver replied no but he was happy to talk to me, I asked him about his 9-7. He said when it drives, it is a nice car but he did have his fair share of problems. I could not remember what those problems were because even if he told me, it would not be easy for me to relate to the actual components. I never had a 9-7 before.
Talking about the 9-7. I think the 9-7 has its place in the Saab history as GM’s attempt to grow the Saab range of product offerrings. Not only they added a SUV which is the 9-7, they also added a smaller hatch back/station wagon which is the 9-2. The former is a Saab first for Saab never made a SUV before. The latter is a smaller car and also a replacement for the 9-3 hatch back which has a huge trunk. GM also bought 4WD to the Saab family. By the end of the Saab/GM partnership, there is one 4WD offerring in every Saab model.

  2. To all members and visitors of the site … we are looking for feedback from you. Please post any comments (good or bad) … it would be great to start a discussion on here for everyone to take part in.
