Hello All
Happy New Year !!! My new years resolution was to join this club.I do have a question though.Has anyone have any information or insight into importing a saab into Canada.Specifically any transporting company that could be recommended.
Thank you
Grant
Hi Grant, Welcome to the Club. I have no experience with car imports (assume from the US?). Hopefully, there will be somebody in the Club who will be able to help. It’s a rare event though and you may get a quicker answer searching on Kijiji or other such place. Perhaps CAA? What model SAAB do you currently drive and what are you importing? Martin
Hi;
I have not done this myself, but I know there are quite a few Saabs from the US running around in Canada, from older classic 900 and 9000s to cars from the last years of Saab’s production.
I have heard all sorts of different stories about transporting companies, not necessarily Saab specific. Sometimes a previously reliable company becomes not so reliable.
In the case of buying a car that’s advertised in good condition, 100% running, etc., I would say the safest thing is to actually go and pick it up in person. But there, I’ve heard at least three different types of stories:
1) The car was not as good as advertised and the buyer walked (well, maybe not all the way home 🙂
2) The car was good and ran fine home
3) There were mechanical adventures on the trip home
Personally, I’d always prefer a car that’s local enough that I can have a good look at and drive home.
